When we think of ice cream, we think of Betty Rae’s. They serve up traditional ice cream with a huge variety of flavors. With locations in the River Market, Brookside and Merriam you can get your sweet tooth fix wherever you are in the city.

Fairway Creamery

With a recent new location added in Westside, Fairway Creamery is a must visit. They focus more on the ice cream than the mix-ins. The mix-ins are usually subtle, but you won’t care because the ice cream is so smooth and the flavors are phenomenal. They also serve up some delightful donuts.

High Hopes Ice Cream

This ice cream shop serves its delicious offerings at a small, walk-up window. Don’t let that fool you. They’ve got some of the more interesting flavors in KC when you are feeling particularly adventurous.

Flying Cow Gelato

Another favorite, this small gelato shop features a selection of gelatos and sorbets. Again, the focus here is on the actual gelato and not so much the mix-ins. They have a variety of rotating flavors to sample at their Westwood, Overland Park or Shawnee locations.

French Custard

Featuring classic custard flavors and toppings as well as new and unique flavors, French Custard has got you covered. Even better, this Kansas City standout is located between the Country Club Plaza and Brookside, making it a convenient stop when exploring some of the best parts of Kansas City.
